The Venaseal™ Closure System Treatment is a minimally-invasive procedure for treating varicose veins. Unlike traditional open-cut surgeries, this procedure involves just one prick per vein and is USFDA approved adhesive-based instant closure system. This is the only procedure for varicose veins that do not require you to wear stockings and you can return to normal activities on the same day.

No Stockings Needed
Would it be possible to have a chance of treating varicose veins without stockings? This was only a dream until a few months ago. Stockings were the mainstay of any varicose veins treatment, be it open surgery or minimally invasive techniques like Endovenous Laser Ablation, Radiofrequency Ablation, or even the relatively newer Mechanical Chemical Ablation techniques like Clarivein. Percutaneous Sclerotherapy too would need the patient to wear stockings for 6 - 18 weeks to help the treated veins heal.
Pleasant Treatment Experience
Traditional methods like EVLA or RFA require multiple needle pricks along the path of the vein to numb the area. This can be an uncomfortable process and few patients would actually need sedation or even spinal anesthesia to help with the pain. Now, varicose veins care can be a pleasant experience. With the onset of this Non-Thermal technique, the patient no longer needs to be given multiple local anesthesia pricks that are given in Thermal techniques like EVLA or RFA. This is called tumescence or tumescent anesthesia. This is usually a mix of local anesthetic medication and saline, usually, about 500 ml would need to be injected around the vein to lock in the heat in the target vein and prevent other healthy tissues from burning.
Just One Prick Per Vein
The Venaseal procedure involves just one prick per vein, similar to an IV line placement. The procedure is done via this one single needle prick thus greatly increasing patient comfort during the procedure. As no other anesthesia medicine or saline injection needs to be given, this procedure is safe for older patients who may have other health issues like heart disease. The Venaseal system delivers an adhesive inside the vein in a controlled manner that closes the target vein immediately, as compared to 6 - 18 weeks for other methods. This gives benefits faster and patients can resume their daily activities immediately after the procedure thus saving a lot of trouble and making recovery more comfortable.
